| Physical Description | Thoande is athletic, yet she fills out her uniform pleasingly. She stands 5’7” tall, a little below the average height for her people, but that’s never stopped her from living a little larger than the size of her body. She can commonly be found with her hair in a ponytail, with a few strands sticking out over her face. She lets it down over her shoulders off duty, where she can commonly be found in light, form-fitting attire that allows her mobility so as to accommodate her love for activities such as exercise or outdoors activity. She usually doesn’t bother with makeup, seeing as she finds it hard to apply it to herself anyway. |

Personality & Traits
| General Overview | Thoande has always loved being around people. As she claims with a smile always, ‘sensing them around me tickles my brain.’ She balances this with Aenar reservedness: soft-spoken and gentle, yet strong. She doesn’t talk as much as some of her crewmates might, preferring to listen instead, but when she speaks, her words are never wasted, paired with a smile (or laugh) that more often than not lights up the room around her. She loves to tease, cheekily using whatever she senses off of others (latently, of course) in playful, flirty quips that put a smile on their faces more often than not. Her antennae are expressive as can be, positively yelling the emotions she doesn’t always show. Overall, she’s nice to be around, all things considered. Despite her job, Thoande sticks fast to the Aenar doctrine of peace; she believes powerfully that if a situation can be resolved without violence, it should be. She would rather use words and a smile (and any latent feelings she gets from the aggressor) to disarm instead of disable, failing which she begrudgingly uses her more offensively-oriented training to do the job. That’s kind of how life is, and she accepts it. |
| Strengths & Weaknesses | * Strives hard to resolve situations peacefully. Security doesn't need to be done with violence when a good talking down and a cool head will do too! More to come! |
| Ambitions | * Command her own ship one day. * Find her own family... whether that's Andorian style or not. * Develop a training program for security officers that focuses more on peaceful suppression. |
| Hobbies & Interests | * Long, drawn-out mountaineering sessions * Working out in the ship's gymnasium * Cooking her own meals. |
| Personal History | Thoande was born and grew up in a relatively isolated Aenar enclave on Andor, located within an underground cavern. Much of her childhood was spent within the confines of this cavern, in fact, largely isolated from mainstream Andorian society thanks to the harsh snowstorms that often raged along the passage there from Laikan. Her professor thavan worked in one of Laikan’s largest universities, and so wasn’t home often, and her charan and shreya owned a lucrative geothermal energy-powered hot spring inn adjacent to their home, leaving her zhavey Nyarisa to raise her instead. Nyarisa was an excellent caretaker; she gave every effort to raise her zhei the best she could, teaching her the ways of Aenar motherhood in preparation for her future role in life. Overall, her childhood was good - unremarkable, but safe and mostly free from the biting cold beyond the cavern walls. Now, Thoande wouldn’t have swapped this upbringing for anything else - but, bluntly speaking, this sheltered upbringing never sat quite right with her. She was always far from the most reserved or content of her peers, constantly asking about the outside world and what else there was beyond the gleaming icy walls of her home. Her parents, not keen to lose their precious daughter in the snowstorms outside, often pushed back, never quite blocking her way, moreso dissuading as she tried her damn hardest to discover it for herself by exploring their cavern home on her own (and often getting hurt in the process). This frustrated her somewhat; she couldn’t understand why they were so eager to hide it from her. Was life really that perilous beyond their cavern home? Defiantly, Thoande found a job as a courier with a local logistics company that delivered goods to and from Laikan - despite her parents’ protests - aged eighteen years old. Much of her job involved climbing up and down the ice of their home, and occasionally trekking through the snowy wastes outside their cavern. Her very first trip to Laikan came when she was twenty, together with her superior, on a delivery shuttle. This trip, Thoande claims, changed her entire life and perspective on the world. She would go on to make several more trips of this sort, ferrying goods and products to and from, eventually earning her shuttle’s license aged 19 years old, and being trusted to make deliveries on her own aged 20. Once again, life was good. This time, for a long while, Thoande was almost sure that this was the life she wanted for herself. Starfleet entered her life just months after being given the responsibility of making trips on her own. A team of thirty officers set up an anthropological research station in a building within a few blocks of her workplace, which attracted attention from many of her neighbours, including Thoande herself. Tasked with helping to supply the base by her bosses, Thoande often had to spend hours with Starfleet personnel - enough time for her to ask questions about the life they led before coming to her community. What she heard fascinated her - stories of worlds that gleamed blue and green, where the sun shone and bathed the people in warmth, with people so varied they came in a rainbow of colors. Thoande became convinced that that was the life she wanted for herself - a chance to leave her community proper, while getting to see the universe and everything that existed within it. Many of her peers (and her own family) would call what Thoande did next crazy, or stupid, or both. She quit her courier job and returned home, where she proceeded to study and train for the next six months in order to join Starfleet, with some aid from the outpost’s personnel. Eventually, she sat for and passed her entrance exam, to her delight. Her parents pleaded with her not to go - yes, even her thavan - relenting only when they realised that her mind could not be changed. Thoande left Andor for Earth with the outpost’s next supply run. Thoande still thinks of her Aademy years as the best years of her life to this day. Coming into her classes on day one and ‘seeing’ her classmates of all different races and species for the first time was one of the most eye-opening (well, in a sense) experiences of her life; several of her classmates remember Thoande bugging them with questions about themselves and their feelings, in fact. Her track was eventually chosen as she felt that it would allow her to interact with people more often. She dabbled in several different extracurriculars, including theater, chess (which she wound up not being very good at anyway) and dragonboating before finally settling on the Academy’s mountaineering team, going on to represent them in a handful of competitions and earning herself two silver and one bronze medal over her four years before commissioning. More to come... |
