Personal History The Dominion War of 2372:

Born in the early 2360s, Adrian Kellan's childhood unfolded against the backdrop of the Dominion War. As an 11-year-old boy, he found himself thrust into a galaxy engulfed in conflict. The war, marked by fear, uncertainty, and sacrifice, left an indelible mark on young Adrian.

Living in the midst of wartime conditions, Adrian experienced the pervasive anxiety that permeated daily life. The news of battles, the loss of loved ones, and the looming threat of the Dominion cast a shadow over his formative years. The disruptions extended beyond the battlefield, affecting his education and reshaping the cultural fabric of the Federation.

In the face of adversity, Adrian found inspiration in the heroism displayed by Starfleet, with family members and friends in uniform serving as his personal role models. The war ignited a fascination with space exploration and defense, planting the seeds of a deep-seated commitment to the principles of duty and sacrifice.

The impact of the Dominion War on Adrian's family dynamics was profound. Loss, grief, and the strain of wartime conditions contributed to a sense of responsibility that would stay with him throughout his life. The sacrifices made during those tumultuous years laid the foundation for Adrian's later dedication to Starfleet and his unwavering commitment to protecting the ideals of the Federation.

These early experiences, both painful and inspiring, became the crucible in which Captain Adrian Kellan's character was forged, shaping his understanding of duty, sacrifice, and the imperative to safeguard the values of the Federation at any cost.

Synth Attack of 2385

April 5th, 2385 left an indelible mark on his life. The devastating assault on the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards around Mars, commonly referred to as the synth attack, occurred just as Adrian was on the brink of graduating from the academy.

The catastrophic event altered the trajectory of the Federation and Starfleet. In the aftermath, Starfleet, once focused on exploration, was forced to reassess its priorities. The exploration program faced severe cutbacks, and a wave of paranoia and self-isolation spread through the Federation. The shift in policies challenged the ideals that Adrian had grown up with, as the Federation turned inward, prioritizing defense and security.

Amidst the turmoil, Adrian found solace in his girlfriend, sharing their feelings and working through the trauma of the synth attack together. They became each other's pillars of support during this challenging time.

Adrian's father, Commander Marcus Kellan, took the news of the exploration program cutbacks particularly hard. In protest, he resigned from Starfleet, becoming one of the few supporters of Admiral Jean Luc Picard's stance against the Federation's withdrawal from exploration. Admiral Picard's focus, however, was diverted towards dealing with the impending supernova of the Romulan sun and the subsequent relocation efforts.

The Federation's reluctance to aid the Romulans sparked internal conflict, with many citing centuries-old tensions and fears of potential hostilities as reasons for non-intervention. Adrian's father's resignation influenced Adrian's perspective, leading him to believe in his patriotic duty to protect the Federation at all costs. He embraced the prevailing paranoia, convinced that safeguarding paradise was the Federation's utmost priority.

This period of uncertainty and ideological shift became a defining chapter in Adrian's life. The juxtaposition of his earlier dreams of exploration with the harsh reality of a changed Federation forged a deep sense of duty and a commitment to protecting the ideals he held dear, even if it meant adapting to a more guarded and cautious Starfleet.

Relationship with Eliana Martin

A Source of Comfort:

Adrian first met Eliana Martin in 2381, a time when the echoes of the Dominion War still lingered, and the galaxy was adjusting to a new normal. Initially, their connection may have been grounded in shared experiences and a mutual understanding of the challenges the Federation faced.

Their friendship evolved into a romantic relationship in 2382, as they found solace in each other's company amidst the uncertainties of post-war life. Eliana's presence provided Adrian with a sense of stability and a respite from the anxieties that accompanied the aftermath of the Dominion War. Their shared values and commitment to building a better future for the Federation further strengthened their bond.

Synth Attack of 2385 - Testing Bonds:
The Synth Attack of 2385, commonly referred to as a pivotal moment in Federation history, tested Adrian and Eliana's relationship. The devastating event at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards around Mars brought back memories of wartime fears and added a layer of trauma to their shared history.

During this challenging time, Eliana became an anchor for Adrian. Their relationship evolved beyond mere companionship; Eliana served as a pillar of support, helping Adrian navigate the emotional aftermath of the synth attack. Their bond deepened as they worked through feelings of grief, fear, and uncertainty together.

Eliana's understanding and empathy became crucial elements in Adrian's coping process. Her ability to provide comfort during moments of vulnerability solidified their connection, creating a profound trust and emotional intimacy between them.

A Lasting Relationship:

Beyond the challenges they faced together, Adrian and Eliana's relationship endured. The trials they experienced during the Dominion War, the shift in Federation policies, and the synth attack created a foundation for a lasting and committed partnership.

Eliana's role as a supportive partner not only contributed to Adrian's personal growth but also became an integral part of his journey to becoming the captain of the USS Scharnhorst. Their shared history and the strength of their relationship serve as a reminder of the resilience of love and companionship even in the face of galactic turmoil.

Life on the USS Oxbow:

In 2385, Adrian received an assignment to the USS Oxbow, a Sutherland Class Heavy Cruiser, where he assumed the role of Beta Shift Security Officer. Within two years, he demonstrated exceptional dedication, leading to his promotion to Assistant Chief of Security. Notably, Adrian's girlfriend, who was expecting their child, accompanied him on this venture, taking on the role of Head Chef aboard the USS Oxbow.

Opting to defer marriage until they settled into life on the USS Oxbow and until Adrian reconciled differences with his disapproving father, the couple postponed their nuptials. In January of 2386, Adrian officially proposed to his long-term girlfriend, Eliana. The couple welcomed their son, Lucas, into the world on February 13, 2386.

Adrian's relationship with his father, strained by disagreements about Adrian's continued service in Starfleet, began to mend, thanks to the efforts of his older brother, Ethan. With reconciliation achieved, Adrian found himself in a markedly improved life situation — a harmonious relationship with his father, a healthy son, and his long-term girlfriend now his fiancée.

Supported by this solid foundation, Adrian excelled in his role. Despite his father's initial objections to his sons serving in Starfleet, he offered valuable advice on career advancement and policies. Adrian and Ethan attributed their father's softened stance partly to the birth of their younger sister, Olivia. Though a couple of years older than Lucas, Adrian hoped they would grow up together like siblings.

As Assistant Chief of Security, Adrian faced and conquered challenges that fortified his character. Balancing crew morale with the provision of tactical and security services on the deep-space-assigned USS Oxbow was a complex task. A notable mission during this period involved a distress signal from a stranded Starfleet vessel near the Klingon border. Tasked with a search and rescue operation, Adrian, as part of the away team, played a crucial role in safely bringing the stranded crew back to the USS Oxbow.

Eliana's Support:

In the midst of their struggles during the first year of their assignment, Eliana convinced Adrian that even though these initial years would be rough, there was a possibility for him to be promoted to Chief. She assured him that they would eventually be able to be on the day shift together, but they just had to get through these first couple of years. Adrian deeply appreciated Eliana's unwavering commitment and support during this challenging period, especially since his father was absent for the first year. He considered himself lucky that his brother, Ethan, was able to help salvage their relationship.

With Eliana's encouragement and the renewed bond with his father, Adrian found the strength to persevere. He focused on his duties and continued to excel in his role as Assistant Chief of Security on the USS Oxbow. The couple's determination to make their relationship work and provide a stable future for their son, Lucas, kept them motivated during the difficult times.

As time went on, Adrian's dedication and outstanding performance caught the attention of his superiors. In recognition of his skills and leadership abilities, Adrian was eventually promoted to the position of Chief of Security as Eliana had hoped. This promotion allowed them to finally be on the day shift together, bringing a sense of stability and harmony to their professional and personal lives.

The support and commitment of Eliana, along with the efforts of his brother Ethan, played a crucial role in Adrian's journey to success. They were his pillars of strength and encouragement during the challenging early years of his Starfleet career. Adrian valued their presence in his life immensely and was grateful for their unwavering support.

USS Gallagher, Bozeman Class Light Cruiser

In 2389, Adrian received an incredible opportunity to join the USS Gallagher as the chief of security. He was ecstatic when the captain agreed to also bring Eliana and their son aboard the ship.

Initially, Eliana was not the head chef on the ship. At that time, the position was held by someone who was dating the Second Officer. However, after 2 years, Adrian applied for and was accepted as the Second Officer, which upset a few other department heads who had been there longer. Even though it felt like Eliana's career was going downhill, she was eventually promoted back to the head chef position after two years.

Adrian was unhappy that Eliana was not considered for the head chef position right from the start. He made it clear that the next time he was transferred, he would not accept the promotion unless it included her.

From 2391 to 2393, Adrian dedicated the next two years to honing his skills. Towards the end of his assignment.

While Adrian's family life continued to flourish, they kept asking when he would be returning home. At the time, he was still serving on a deep space patrol vessel, amidst growing hostilities between the Federation and the Klingon Empire.

Adrian's mother expressed concern for their safety, but fortunately, nothing significant ever occurred. Adrian described the following four years as uneventful, with the only notable mission being the relocation of a small settlement colony. Adrian's team was tasked with protecting the governor of the colony, as not everyone was pleased with the resettlement. They did their best to ensure the governor's safety, and Adrian's actions earned him several Starfleet awards for valor.

Adrian's older brother, Ethan, was offered a promotion to first officer. Ethan advised Adrian to stop being so selective about his assignment choices. Despite turning down two assignments personally, Ethan chose to take an assignment to advance his career. He was also married, but Adrian felt he wasn't ready for the opportunities available on smaller vessels. He didn't want to sacrifice his family time. Fortunately, this decision didn't hinder Adrian's career, and after a year, he was offered three different assignments. He finally accepted the third assignment, which required him to attend the academy, but he was able to bring his wife and son. Additionally, Eliana was offered the position of Head Chef upon their arrival.

He accepted a position at Starfleet Academy and enrolled himself in the XO academy. For six months, Eliana, Lucas, and Adrian returned to Earth for a family reunion and for Adrian to attend the academy.

Seeing his Family:

During Adrian's time back at the academy, he made sure to prioritize spending quality time with his family. His father, who had previously served in Starfleet but decided to leave after the synth attack of 2385, was thrilled to have Adrian and his family back on Earth. The reunion allowed them to reconnect and strengthen their bond.

Adrian's mother, who had also served in Starfleet, understood the demands and challenges of his career. However, after the devastating synth attack, she decided to leave Starfleet and pursue a different path. Despite her departure from Starfleet, she remained a source of support and guidance for Adrian.

During their time together, Adrian and his family made the most of their reunion. They shared stories, laughter, and created lasting memories. Adrian's son, Lucas, was overjoyed to have his grandparents around and cherished the moments spent with them.

Adrian's father, who had witnessed the dangers of deep space exploration firsthand, expressed concern for Adrian's safety. He understood the risks involved in serving on a patrol vessel amidst the escalating tensions between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. However, he also recognized Adrian's passion for Starfleet and respected his decision to continue his career.

Go to Disneyland, take one of their families boat out on the water and have a Martin/Kellan yachting or sailing day, go to the beach for the day, what about an overnight trip somewhere, out to dinner together, go to a park and play baseball or football martins vs Kellan’s, go to a baseball game together at a stadium… just to name a few

Having his family's support and understanding meant the world to Adrian. It provided him with the motivation and strength to excel in his studies at the academy. He was determined to make the most of his time there and hone his skills to become a capable and respected officer.

While Adrian focused on his studies, he also made sure to find a balance between his academic commitments and spending time with his loved ones. He would often join his family for meals, engage in meaningful conversations, and participate in activities that brought them closer together.

The time spent with his family during his academy days served as a reminder of the importance of maintaining a strong support system. It fueled Adrian's determination to succeed not only for himself but also for his loved ones. Their unwavering belief in him gave him the confidence to face any challenges that lay ahead in his career.

USS Dallas, Monarch Class Explorer

Adrian was assigned to the USS Dallas after completing the Executive Officer Academy. He served from June 1, 2393 through July 31, 2395. During his two year tenure he learned alot from Captain Marcos Vontamegro.

During his two years Adrian led several missions while serving on the USS Dallas. Adrian felt a little out of his element when he first arrived. He was use to smaller ships like the USS Gallagher.

The USS Dallas had 1200 personnel assigned to it. The Dallas was a monarch class explorer. A design that was retrofitted from the galaxy class design. A retrofit that earned its own starship registration and classification system.

Adrian went to the academy to learn how to use the aging galaxy class design. Despite the fact that the monarch class was retrofitted with today’s technology. Some of the systems were still outdated and he needed to be brought up to speed.

There were several missions where Adrian accomplishments were highlighted.

Captain's Briefing: USS Dallas becomes a training vessel for Starfleet Academy cadets. Adrian oversees the integration of cadets into ship operations, providing them with hands-on experience in various departments to prepare the next generation of Starfleet officers.

Adrian went on several missions, but these missions were highlighted in his file, and part of the reason why he was fast tracked for promotion. During his two year run on the USS Dallas, Adrian proved his worth as Executive Officer. Adrian was highly recommended by Captain Vontamegro to receive his own command. He accepted command of the USS Renown on August 1, 2395.

USS Renown, Reliant Class Starship

In 2395, Adrian was offered command of a Reliant-class starship, the USS Renown, and he gladly accepted the opportunity. The Renown, an exploration light cruiser, had the primary mission of exploring the Delta Volanis Star Cluster and cataloging various planets within it. Although most of the planets they found were uninhabited and of little value, Adrian cherished his time on the Renown.

Over the years, Adrian honed his command style, striving to be a firm but compassionate officer who followed the rules. He discovered that having small children helped him find the balance he had been missing earlier in his career.

For six years, everything seemed to be going smoothly on the Renown, despite the dark secrets of the Federation slowly coming to light. Adrian was somewhat surprised by the Romulans' involvement in the 2399 events and the synth attack of 2385, but he and his crew managed to navigate through those crises.

However, everything changed in 2401 during Frontier Day celebrations when the Renown was unexpectedly recalled to Earth to participate in Fleet Formation Day. This event was supposed to mark a revolutionary change in the way the Federation handled large fleet battles, but it shattered Adrian's trust in Starfleet's technical capabilities.

Unbeknownst to the Federation, a joint task force of Changelings and the Borg had devised a plan to cripple the Federation during the event. Starfleet was assimilated by the Borg, and Admiral Jean-Luc Picard's DNA was introduced into the transporter system, affecting countless millions of personnel.

As a result, the young members of the crew were assimilated and took control of most of the Federation Fleet, while some of the Renown's junior officers and senior staff were also assimilated and turned against their fellow crew members. Tragically, the first officer died defending his captain, allowing Adrian to escape.

Adrian struggled to come to terms with the fact that his trusted crew members had turned on their first officer, even though they were under the influence of the Borg. The memory haunted him, and he made the difficult decision to step down as commanding officer and take a two-year hiatus from the Federation and Starfleet.
