Timeline: 2401

Location: USS Renown, Bridge

Adrian was on the bridge of the USS Renown, when he heard plead Admiral Shelby's address talking about the new Fleet formation protocol and about how today on frontier day would be a glorious monument to the Federation. Adrian along with his first officer and other senior officers all on the bridge smiled, as they heard the speech progressing along nicely.

Adrian looked over to his first officer. He had a big bolting smile on his face, everything that the Admiral was saying he truly felt. This was the Pinnacle moment of starfleet. A moment where they took the best of Starfleet and found a way to integrate it and this new technology what allow the fleet to survive even if most of the senior staff are incapacitated.

And Adrian's eyes this was more than an occasional moment, today would be a ground breaking day in the Federation would seek a new level of technological advancement.

“Derek, I feel like today we are facing a new chapter in Starfleet. Fleet formation, it's the wave of the future my friend.” Adrian said as he put his hand gently on Derek's shoulder for a brief moment.

“Captain there's a ship is jumping into the solar system the USS Titan.” Derek called out as he observed it from his station.

“Captain we're receiving an emergency held from the Titan it's Admiral Picard. He's warning us that the changelings have infiltrated the flea and are making as vulnerable to our greatest enemy the Borg. The entire Bridge crew looked directly at Derek and at Adrian, they wanted to know what the captain was going to do.

Prepare to heal the Titan, but as soon as that happened a strange and eerie mechanical sound started to hit the entire area of the bridge at once everybody's first reaction was to cover their ears.

“Operations report?” Adrian called out, as he looked over to his Vulcan chief operations officer. He could see that she was going to her logs trying to isolate and figure out where the screeching sound was coming from.

Lira look to her captain, and she had a puzzled look on her face which was uncommon for a Vulcan. “Captain it's a signal being broadcast somewhere and affecting the entire fleet. I'm tempting to trace the source of the signal now captain.”

“Track fast” he said noticing Borg algorithms appearing on all the display consoles around the bridge.

“Captain the signals coming from Jupiter.” Lira said in aesthetic tone. She was directed to the point lacking emotion when she gave her response. Deep down though she was just as confused and scared as the rest of the crew.

Derek had a confused lick on his face, as he then looked at his captain and then over at the operations officer Lira. “The Borg are at Jupiter?”

“Helm alter our course get us out of this Fleet formation.” Adrian called out but nothing happened, it's like his crew were all frozen except for his senior officers, the ones with gray hair.

Adrian walked over to his home put his hand on her shoulder as he looked to her. “Ensign Malia Tillman, can you hear me?” Adrian asked as he looked over to her. He heard no response.

Adrian's fun her chair around and he could tell that she was being assimilated. She briefly grabbed his hand and looked at him and said. “Help me l, Captain.”

Adrian pushed her hand off and then looked over to his operations officer. “Lira can you reroute home to your station we need to get out of here.” Adrian ordered as he looked over to his Vulcan operations officer.

“Captain I can't it will take too long, I recommend we abandon the ship or at least a bridge we're outnumbered here we need to make a proper stand.

Derek was an extra respond as he pulled out of phaser and then tossed one to Adrian. “She's right captain we need to regroup and we can't do that if we're outnumbered.” Derek called out as he watched Adrian take the phaser.

“Computer lockout Bridge operations authorization Kellen pie alpha indigo Sierra Lima echo echo, enable.” Adrian called out as the computer systems attempted to shut down and walk out the main Bridge operations it didn't prevent the fleet formation protocol from taking effect but he did lock out key functions making the ship temporarily under their control.

“Captain, you bought us a few minutes but the Borg will be able to adapt quickly. I suggest we get out of here as quick as possible.” Lira insisted that she grabbed a phaser and set it to stun.

“All right let's evacuate.” Adrian said as he noticed some of the junior officers were starting to stand up from their chairs and calling out that they were bored and that unassimilated must be eliminated. His team of unassimulated officers opened fire on stunt settings to disable their Bridge crew this only slowed them down long enough for them to make their escape in the turbo lift where Adrian ordered them to head to the maintenance area he wanted to get away from me anywhere that had officers posted.

As they entered the turbo lift Derek looked at him. “That area is non-vital so they should ignore us in there, if the Borg, still holds of the old ways we should be safe for a little while.”’

“I hope so number one.” Adrian said as a turbo lift continues down towards the maintenance deck.

It takes a few minutes to get down to the maintenance deck and just as Adrian suspected there's nobody down here.

He knows the piece won't last forever because he also made an announcement through his intercom badge. “To any unassimulated crew please report to the maintenance that can soon as possible we'll make our stand here.” Adrian called out as they prepare to put some crates in the way to block the only entrance into the area by turbo lift. Pretty soon the turbo left doors started going up he wasn't sure if that was a good sign or a bad only time will tell.

Adrian's Chief Engineer was Lieutenant Commander Garrick Voss, he was the first one to respond. “Captain the board have taken control over all sectors of the ship I estimate they're about 10 minutes from breaking your command lockout codes.”

“We need a plan we can't stay here indefinitely, I recommend that we retake the bridge and engineering and the seal ourselves in there if we control the heart of the ship we control the renown.” Derek said as he gave his recommendation.

“Captain I recommend we get off this ship as soon as possible, the fleet integration system is tight into everything that means the Borg have control over the entire shift even if we can get access to the bridge and engineering it's only a stop measure before they take control again.” Garrick responded. It would take too long in his opinion to dismantle the fleet formation system.

Before they could discuss any further the turbo left door is opened up and two assimilated crew started to come out claiming to be the Borg. Adrian, Derek and Derek all open fired. They disabled and stunned the two drones.

“We can't hold them here forever, for the moment that we could tie them up but something tells me I may not be enough to contain them.” Garrick said is he look at the two unconscious drones. The turbo lift door is open again and everybody expected to see more drones coming down but this time it was some of the crew, Adrian told them before they come in that they needed to dispose of these two drones.

“I need suggestions of what to do with these two drones remember they're still crew, so we're not going to kill them.” Adrian pointed out to some of the other senior officers which everybody was in agreement.

For the moment they decided to tie them up and to keep a close eye on them. Over the next 10 minutes more crew about 1/4 of the ships compliment came down and then the board started taking real notice to them Adrian gave an order to have Derek lock out the transporters I should slow them down and buy them some more time.

Captain I recommend we get off this ship, we should make her stand on Earth at least there we can get into some underground bunkers and hold out waiting for reinforcements.” Garrick suggested to his captain as a course of action he needs staying there would be suicide.

“I don't want to surrender control this ship to the Borg.” Adrian suggested to his chief engineer.

“Captain if we don't leave we're going to be killed, the Borg have orders to shoot all unassimilated, that's us.” Garrick pointed out to him.

“The chief engineers right captain, they can only delay the borg. The fleet formation protocol is too embedded in all of our systems if we stay here we're going to die our only option is to abandon the ship make her stand on Earth or to destroy the ship and still make her stand on Earth. I don't want to kill our fellow officers and crew but that is a sad reality captain.” Derek said as he looked over to Adrian.

Before Adrian could make an announcement, they heard an emergency broadcast from Captain Benzot of the USS Excelsior-D he had talked about regaining control of the bridge. This gave Adrian hope that maybe they didn't have to abandon their shift but then the captain talked about how they're being pulled out of plea formation and then they were being targeted everyone knew what it meant the Excelsior-D was destroyed.

Adrian knew his only course of action would be to either blow up his own ship or to abandon it and then blow it up. “We're going to abandon ship.” Adrian started to say and before he got too far into his speech another announcement was made.

“Captain it looks like Admiral Jean Luc Picard is escaping in a shuttle heading out of the system, it looks like he's going for help.” Derek said as he is monitoring sensors from that station he had managed to hack into the bridge controls.

“Let's hope he finds reinforcements in time right now we're going to head down to earth and make our final stand there. I'm not going to blow up my ship if there's a chance that Admiral Picard can save these guys, then we need to give him a chance.” Adrian ordered and then he looked to his crew and continued on.

“We're going to head to the shuttle Bay and we're getting out of here in shuttles cram as many people as you can we're not going that far we're just going down to earth we're going to head down to Starfleet command and then we're going to enter the bunkers and wait for reinforcements.” Adrian called that as their course of action. The crew that was there discussed how they would get there and then they implemented their plan.

There was a huge firefight between the maintenance deck all the way over to shuttle Bay operations they managed to secure it and secure the inside doors and took over control thanks to the smart thinking of it Adrian he managed to trick the computer into thinking there was an Omega particle event temporary locking out all computer systems that did not have a command authorization code then he puts a system into maintenance mode after unlocking the shuttle Bay operations terminal that should give them a little time in order to allow them to escape.

As they were trying to secure the doors a huge firefight came out and Derek was helping the last of the survivors to get into shuttle Bay when the unimaginable happened. Adrian watched as Ensign Milia Tillman who is now assimilated had assassinated his first officer and his dear friend Derek Malloy. And this devastated Adrian, the crew opened fire disabling her. And managed to get the door sealed and sealing them Adrian at this point was distraught he ran over to reach his friend into hug him as his friend laid there dying in his arms.

“I'm sorry my friend, I won't be able to go with you I'm fading fast.” Derek said coughing up a little and you can see blood trailing out of his mouth and over the wound.

“Medic I need a medic now.” Adrian called out at somebody ran over with a medical tricorder and started taking some initial scans. But the medic didn't need to respond because Adrian could hear the flat tone and the medic simply shook their head no.

Adrian could hear pounding on the door and what sounded like machinery it sounded like they're trying to cut through, the Borg were. “We need to get out of here now, otherwise his death will be for nothing.” Adrian called out as he looked at the rest of them who looks stunned. Everybody started making their way towards the shuttlecraft and then slowly everybody left once they got the gate shield offline and started to make their way down to Earth.
