It was later in the night, and Zoey was having a hard time sleeping. Headquarters just seem too small even though they're a decent size to do some meditation yoga. She had dabbled in different types but she discovered back during her Academy days that she really liked the Mok'bara, a type that was passed down from Captain Worf back in the 2360's. Her teacher was one of his direct pupils.
Zoey what is by no means a expert in the form she was still practicing. Sometimes she would do it in the holiday when time allowed but most times she would watch videos and then go and practice in places like here in the Arboretum. Plus she also like this time of night because not too many people Keen into the Arboretum during this hour.
Well, most people weren't Cha'joga. You'd think a Klingon would prefer loud environments filled with people to test their mettle against, and that was what Cha'joga craved too - but even she could see the value in silence.
Dressed in a figure-hugging black top and shorts, the Klingon had initially made her way into the arboretum for a long, relaxing walk. She took a moment to breathe in the air that was fresher and cleaner than anywhere else on board before setting off down the arboretum's main path. Overall, she'd certainly come expecting nothing and expected to leave without event after about half an hour.
Until she came upon Zoey, that is, practising mok'bara along the path.
"Your form is familiar." She stated, as she walked by on the path itself and stopped to watch just a few meters away. "My old master used to teach me almost the same way. I remember his teachings well."
"How long have you been practising?" She asked, folding her arms under her impressive chest.
"Oh hey, I wasn't expecting anybody. Three years, ever since my sophomore year at the Academy. One of my instructors offered this as an extracurricular activity I found it helps me to relax. " Zoey said wondering if she gave out too much information. For a Klingon she was attractive, but then again she also thought the Aenar was very attractive maybe it was just women with large breasts? She wasn't sure but she would definitely have to look into that later. It was clear that she was well endowed the Klingon. Zoey continue going through the motions, trying to finish her set.
"Really." Cha'joga 's eyebrows lifted just a fraction. "We may have had the same master, then. Mr. H'gren?" She stepped closer, head tilted as she studied the attractive young woman. "The Klingon civilian with grey hair and a beard so voluminous we would call him Mr. Rat's Nest." Which wasn't surprising if true, honestly - the Klingon had always run at least two sessions a week.
"You know Master H'gren?" Zoey called out and she continued her form. "I still remember his pain stick training methods my calves still hurt thinking about it." Zoey insisted to Cha'joga. The master was very dedicated to the art of Mok' bara and he expected all of his students to be the same.
"I do." A smirk played across Cha'joga's lips as she paused a respectful distance away with her arms folded under her impressive chest. "And I will never forget his teachings. Sometimes his methods bordered on torture - but mok'bara is about focusing the mind away from pain. I will admit now that I was not always... successful."
"What do you do on board, then?" She asked as she watched the other woman do her thing.
"I am a scientist." Zoey said with a warm grin on her face. As she completed one swift move. She prepared to go into her next move. Her efforts were flawless, not as good as Master H'gren but passable.
"A scientist." Cha'joga's smile widened. "Yet you have the discipline to master mok'bara as well as you have. You undersell yourself, you truly do. Many human practitioners practice for more than three years with less success."
"Cha'joga." She held out her hand to be shaken. "You are?"
"Zoey Armstrong." She said, as she completed her set then reached out to shake her hand. "So if I may ask, what brings you to the arboretum in this late hour?"
"I couldn't sleep." The Klingon admitted as she shook the woman's hand with a firm grip. "I find that walking calms my mind. Better if I find myself in the middle of plants." You'd think a Klingon would consider the smoke-filled streets of Qo'nos peaceful, or at least somewhere harsher - a stereotype, unfortunately, more than the truth.
"Do you come here often, then?" She asked, arching an eyebrow. "If so. I think I may just have to start a late nighters' society." Joking, of course, judging by the toothy smile she flashed immediately after.
"I hope too, I am pretty new to the Scharnhorst." Zoey said, as she grabbed her towel. And wiped her brow. "Hopefully I am not keeping you from your walk."
"So am I, and no, not at all." Cha'joga replied with a grin. "I welcome company, if you wish to join me."
"Sure." Zoey said, as she gathered her stuff. And joined Cha'joga on her walk. "What do you do aboard the Scharnhorst?"
"Security. I make sure people don't die." Cha'joga replied as they carried on down the path heading towards the pond in the center of the arboretum. She took a moment to breathe deeply, savoring the clean, fresh air. She'd have to come back sometime. Whether she met Zoey when she did or not didn't matter. "What kind of scientist are you? I have deep respect for anyone who makes a career of science. I don't have the patience."
"Science is all about patience, but then again so is the Mak'bara, maybe you need to find sometime for it?" Zoey said with a playful grin on her face. She wanted her to see, that patience could be a good thing. Even for a Klingon.
Cha'joga scoffed as they walked, though she didn't seem particularly angry. More like... a concession to the point at hand.
"Perhaps." She admitted. "But I am happy where I am. At least here I feel like my life has meaning, more than it held at home. And the people are far more open-minded."
"you must have met Thoande, you will get use to it." Zoey said, with a playful grin in her tone.
"The Aenar? Yes, I have. I find her enthusiasm infectious." Cha'joga commented. "Have you? The way you speak of her I can't help but think she means something to you. Does she?"
"I am not committed to her or anyone. And no I have done anything with anyone on this ship. I'm not that type of girl." Zoey said with a teasing grin. " As far as Thoande, she seems really cool, and she is very pretty. But its going to take more than a little harmless flirting to spring this girl." Zoey suggested to Cha'joga.
Cha'joga threw her head back and laughed in response as they stopped at a bench overlooking the lake. "A woman who knows her worth! Good! I like you, Zoey! Playing to the gallery while savoring it for yourself! Truly glorious."
"Me? I've had both men and women in my bed. Usually the men break faster." She adds as she sits, crossing one muscular leg over the other. "But I always leave them gasping. And sometimes begging for more. Truly, leaving an adversary defeated but raring for the next bout is the pinnacle of achievement for a Klingon."
"I heard Klingon mating is very physical." Zoey said, wondering if the rumors were true. She was not really a fan of pain, despite the fact she practices Mok'bara. The mediation is not painful, just her master.
"Oh, yes." Cha'joga smiled. "But I consider myself... flexible. If I bedded most non-Klingons the traditional way I would have several more records for avoidable injuries. So I have found several... alternative... ways for both our enjoyment."
"Though I did not say anything about being gentle." She added with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"Can a girl not ask?" Zoey asked with a teasing grin on her face. She was curious to see if she would try to hit on her like Thoande did? Or would she shut this type of flirting down?
"Oh, no. You may. And you were right - Klingon lovemaking does typically involve quite a lot of force." Cha'joga quipped. "You seem unusually curious about it, to ask me about it over many other things. One might think you were interested in the topic. For science, perhaps."
"You mentioned bed, so it made me think of it. Not from a scientific standpoint, but more of what would a klingon morning in bed look like.? My guess a visit to see Doctor Kennings." Zoey said, a little worried. She was not into pain, and sometimes her mouth opened quicker than her brain had time to process her thoughts.
"Oh, a Klingon's morning in bed is simpler than you think." Cha'joga chortled as she angled her body to face Zoey. "We wake from sleep, take care of our morning ablutions and have our first meal of the day. Not all aspects of our culture are rituals of combat, you know.
"But in terms of the morning after I've had someone in my bed?" She smiled now, a bit warmer than before. "I check that they live. They always do. Then I make and share breakfast with them as a reward for surviving the night with me, and for the courage they showed in daring to try when others would not. It keeps them coming back, you see."
"Check if they live, that's a little concerning." Zoey said teasingly. She was getting quiet an education from Cha'joga on klingon morning protocols.
"I am not gentle with my lovemaking, Zoey. I only make sure my lovers' pelvises remain intact." Cha'joga scoffed with a playful smile. "I leave them tender, not broken. But I want to make sure that their hearts survive the attempt so that they leave my company alive and well. Can't a strong woman be forceful when she wants to?"
"Is that a preference thing, or a cultural thing?" Zoey asked, as the scientist in her was now intrigued. She was not personally into pain, but she understood a lot of people were.
"Oh, that's me. Entirely me." Cha'joga replied with a grin. "It's far more sustainable, you see, if it keeps the good ones begging for more."
"Dear Zoey, you really do seem very, very interested in the topic to have asked me about it at such length." She teased, leaning closer to the other woman. "Like I said: one might be misled to think that you're looking to experience it yourself..."
"As tempting as that offer is, I'm not really into pain. It's more of a scientific curiosity at this point." Zoey said feeling a little bad, but there was not much he could do about it. She wasn't into pain and she didn't want to be disrespectful to another culture by leading somebody on. She couldn't help the fact that she was a natural flirt.
"I said I was flexible with my methods, friend. No one needs to leave my company screaming for their life. Merely more tender and aching in all the best ways than when we first met." Cha'joga replied with a smirk. "And possibly not even that, if I think they're worth it. So long as they come back."
Zoey just gave a nervous smile. Thinking that this conversation probably had ran its course. "Well it's something for you to consider with any potential partner." She said with a warm smile on her face that still had a hint of nervousness to it.
"Of course! Like I said, I am quite flexible." Cha'joga chortled as she leaned back, arms folded. "Perhaps we should walk, instead of staying at this bench the entire night. Then you can continue your playfulness if you'd like. I like it."
"Actually I'm about to call it a night." Zoey said, has she took another swig from her drink and then started to gather his stuff. "This has been an interesting conversation. We should do it again sometime."
"We should. I will be here a while longer." Cha'joga smiled. "Just let me know when."
"I'll do that." Zoey said as he slowly started to walk out the room, with a big smile on her face.
