Mission:
Episode 1: Shadows of Diplomacy

Tyler was getting Rayven and Mindy situated, when he got an update from his intelligence operatives on Risa. He took the call, and after several minutes he returned to Rayven.
"The Scharnhorst is just outside of sensor range of this system. They are ready to proceed with the extraction mission." Tyler said, as he looked at Rayven.
"Good, I'm looking forward to getting back to work," Rayven said "Let me get Mindy and I'll be ready." Rayven walked into the next room, "Time to go, you ready?"
"I'm ready mommy, all this moving has me tired," Mindy said taking her mother's hand as they walked out to where Tyler was.
"Just a little bit longer, our ship is coming to pick us up." Tyler suggested to little Mindy.
"We're ready to go," Rayven said.
"Good, lets get aboard the shuttle, we should head to the northern pole to avoid detection." Tyler suggested to Rayven, as he gathered their things. By this point the family dog had been reunited with Mindy and Rayven.
Rayven snapped Wizzer's leash on him, "Just a little longer Mindy and we'll be on the shuttle and then onto mommy's new assignment,"
"Think your new captain, likes kids?" Mindy asked yawning.
"I'm sure he does," Rayven assured him. "As soon as we board the shuttle I want you to get some sleep, you've had a busy day."
"I know he does, he has a little girl named Paislee." Tyler suggested to Mindy, to keep her spirits up, as they boarded the shuttle and prepared to launch.
MIndy clapped her hands "Yippie!! I can have a friend. Mommy did you hear the captain has a little girl!!"
"I heard sweetie. I look forward to meeting the captain and his daughter Paislee," Rayven said smiling at Tyler and mouthing the word thank you. "She hasn't been that excited since my parents gave her the dog."
"The Captain is a pretty open person." Tyler said, leaving out that the man was dealing with some dark skeletons in his closet. He knew from the Captain's file what he went through at the Battle of Frontier's Day.
"I'm looking forward to meeting him," Rayven replied. "I'm looking forward to getting back to work. I'll miss diving but I am a scientist and that has won out."
"How long have you been Risa? I was under the impression it was a vacation." Tyler said, with a warm smile. He sat down in the helm station, and prepared to launch the shuttle
"We've been here about a month, yes it was a vacation. I nearly turned professional in cliff diving. But Starfleet won out. I dive every chance I get and while we were here I dove daily and helped my parents on the family tea farm," Rayven said smiling after she'd secured Mindy and the dog in seats, She then joined Tyler in the cockpit. "The tea farm has been in my family for fifty years."
"Tea farmers, huh. So I guess that means you can make me a good mean cup of tea?" Taylor asked, with a warm smile on his face. The shuttle took off from the surface, and started to head towards the north pole.
"That I can, we grow a wide variety of teas. Flavored and un-flavored. Normally I'd have some samples along," Rayven said as the shuttle lifted off. "Perhaps I can have some sent out once things settle down."
"Hopefully that will be sooner than later. I heard Eddie is a slippery one." Tyler suggested, thinking about his mission. And getting them onto the Scharnhorst, so they can some resemblance of peace and comfort.
Rayven looked back to make sure Mindy was sleeping as she had no idea who Eddie was. Satisfied that her daughter was sleeping. "You have no idea. He's been a thorn in my side since I broke out engagement and he wants Mindy, "
"I assume you had your reasons." Tyler suggested as the shuttle continues towards the north pole. He was curious, but he was not going to press the issue.
"I did have my reasons, I loved him once and the only good thing that came from that love is Mindy," Rayven replied "Let me just say this. Eddie had a promising future with Starfleet, he was on his way to be an engineer. But he wanted a quick way to make money and got kicked out of Starfleet. That is a short version."
"I'm not gonna pry, from what I read on his file. He has a starship at the ready. I heard its no match for the Scharnhorst, but its more than enough against a shuttle." Tyler suggested, hoping that Rayven would give him information on the ship.
Rayven thought for several minutes, "Last I heard he'd gone to where the starships are sent once they are decommissioned. I heard and it's been about two years ago, Eddie has stolen a Nebula Class. I don't know what kind of weapons the Scarnhorst may have but this I do know. Eddie was an engineer, knowing him he's probably upgraded things on that stolen ship he has. I've heard nothing about him since, and I don't want to."
"He knows we will look for that stolen nebula it will be spotted on sensors before it has a chance to come close to Risa. I think he has another ship, my guess some small craft maybe a frigate or a destroyer." Tyler suggested to Rayven, hoping maybe she knew if he had other ships.
Rayven shook her head, "If he has another ship that I don't know. I'm not even sure what his Nebula Class would still have on it. I'm sorry I'm not much more help. Just don't underestimate him."
The shuttle continues to leave the Eastern hemisphere. He was about 20 minutes from the northern Pole or hopefully the magnetic pulses would be able to keep the sensors distracted green but anybody looking for them. "Will be clear to go, once we get to the northern falls it should be able to scramble their sensors for a while."
Rayven checked the sensors on the shuttle, "I'm not seeing anything. I highly doubt he's in the system. He's not stupid and he knows if he enters the system there will be an alert."
"Don't underestimate his skills or his resources. His agents have tracking our movements." Tyler said to her. Several times now they've had to move locations. Because Eddie's men had tracked them.
"Trust me I never underestimate Eddie. He's as slippery as an eel and just as dangerous," Rayven said.
"That's what Starfleet Intelligence believes as well. Once we get to the Scharnhorst. We will meet up with Sienna, she is an infiltration specialist. Maybe she will have some insights into his thought patterns. Her previous assignment was on the SS Carpathia, an elos VII Class Frigate." What he did not tell her was, that according to Starfleet Intelligence that frigate had been upgraded. He did not want to scare little Mindy.
Rayven glanced back at her daughter who was sleeping, this had been hardest on her. Good thing is she had no idea who Eddie is and Rayven vowed to keep it that way. Turning back to the front of the shuttle. "Keep one thing in mind I've not had any contact with Eddie in over two years. Being an engineer I am more than positive he's not only upgraded the weapons and engines on the Nebula Class he's stolen , If he has a frigate I know nothing about it. I would be curious to see what the infiltration specialist has found out."
"That's possible, but intelligence believes that he has a smaller vessel like a frigate or a destroyer." Tyler suggested to Rayven he was surprised that she hasn't had any contact with him in 2 years. Why would he leave her alone for 2 years if now all of a sudden he was obsessed with her again. There was something about this that wasn't making very much sense to him there was a missing element and he hated surprises.
"As I said if he does I don't know. He's left us alone for two years." Rayven commented.
"Starfleet intelligence knows part of the reason is he was working on his building is influenced throughout the quadrant. You think classified as a businessman but basically I think he's a pirate. He has some dealings with the Federation, and so far he's been playing within the lines but this aggressive move against you and your daughter it has to have some kind of political meaning behind it. I just don't know what it is." Tyler suggested to Rayven. He felt bad not knowing what Eddie's motivation was but he was going to try to get to the bottom of it. "Or about another 5 minutes from the North Pole once we get there we should be safe until the Schsrnhorst, arrives in orbit."
"He's sneaky, and if he's dealing with the Federation then he's doing it on the sly. The only reason he's after me is because he took my breaking our engagement and not letting him see Mindy hard. He's vowed to get even. It's his own fault I broke things off," Rayven said. "The pole will hide us as the magnetic pole will mask the shuttle. I'm looking forward to getting back to space."
The shuttle had arrived. Tyler had arrived at the pre determined location. "We're going to hide in those glacier formations over there. I have to power down the shuttle but there are blankets in the aft cabin. We just have to wait for a pickup we can survive days if we have to we also have food rations, but we should only be here a couple hours."
"I'll be glad to stop running so much," Rayven said getting up from her seat, "I'll get blankets on Mindy, I'm fine for now. I should let the dog out, it's been a little bit since he was out, But how safe is it?" Rayven walked to the aft of the shuttle and pulled out a blanket and covered Mindy with one.
"Safe as we can make it, but its cold out there. I would not let the dog stay out longer than he needs to do his business." Tyler suggested. They were hiding in ice crevasses. There exact coordinates were transmitted back to the Scharnhorst, by his intelligence network.
Rayven snapped the leash on the dog, grabbed a blanket and wrapped up in it, opened the hatch long enough to take Wizzer out. It took the dog a matter of seconds to take care of what he needed to. Rayven returned to the shuttle, checked on Mindy. "The dog is good for a while, I'd forgotten how cold the pole is." The dog looked up at Rayven and wagged his tail. "I know and as soon as we're on the ship you'll have your bed. Just hang on a bit longer." she scratched the dogs ears.
"How are you doing kiddo?" Tyler asked as he looked over to Mindy. She was all bundled up. He grabbed a winter jackets, that he prepacked in the shuttle. He knew this was going to be their final destination.
Mindy looked at Tyler as she took the offered coat and put it on. "I'm cold, I'm bored how much longer do we gotta wait to be rescued?"
"Not much longer, here let's get you wrapped up better in this blanket." Tyler said noticing that the blanket was super long on her so he wrapped it around her a couple more times to provide a little more protection and then he grabbed one of the Parker jackets from the back and put it around her. "The jacket's going to be cold for a few minutes but your body will warm it up really quickly we're going to put on the outside of your blanket so it won't cool you down too much but once it warms up you're going to be nice and toasty in there.
"Mommy, is Eddie a bad man is that why we haveta move so much?" MIndy asked.
"Yes honey Eddie is a very bad man and I don't want you to worry or think about him. You let me worry about Eddie. He's a long long way from here and that is not why we;re moving so much. It's a game Mr. Tyler is playing. We'll soon be on mommy's new ship with a new captain." Rayven assured her.
The intercom Beach on his personal device, it was a new generation tablet encrypted. But it was smaller than a standard Federation tablet but it had a holographic display system. Tyler inputed his codes and had a big smile on his face. "They're coming they'll be here shortly about 1 hour, just hang in there ladies for almost out of danger." Tyler said as a scene fades.
