Mission:
Episode 2: Mine of Taurus
Location: Counselor's Office
Sienna walked down the corridor, towards the medical department. She didn't know how she missed it but she had just become aware that Aurora served on the Scharnhorst. The two women had gone to the academy together, in fact they had shared a dorm with a couple of other girls. It had forged a special bond, studying together and often times, they would spend their down time out doing something fun. She rang the door to counseling and waited for an answer.
Aurora closed the file she'd been updating and headed for the door glad for the interruption. Opening she did a double take, "Sienna!! I didn't know you where here! Please come in, we have some catching up to do."
"Yes we do!" Sienna gave her a hug. "It's been a long time. I never imagined we would end up serving together in the sane ship." Sienna sat down across from Aurora. "I t looks like you are doing well."
"I finally got my office set up to make it calming," Aurora replied "I think I'm doing okay, I've been seeing someone, we're just friends. What about you?"
"I met someone myself." Sienna said with a smile. "It is a new relationship but I really like him and he feels the same." She looked around. "You are living the dream."
"It sounds like you are as well," Aurora replied "I'm so glad we're on the same ship, it's been too many years."
"It has." Sienna nodded. "Tell me about your life after we left the academy."
"I was on a couple ships after the academy. I went back to Earth and worked in the counseling offices there. This is my first ship assignment in a number of years. I tried to get back on a ship but headquarters wanted me where I was, But here I finally am. Back on a ship," Aurora said.
"I served on a few ships as well." Sienna murmured. "But long story short, I switched from medical to Intelligence." She smiled at the look on Aurora's face. "I still have my license and I can be a fill in when necessary but circumstances changed my direction."
"What happened? Your an excellent doctor," Aurora asked.
"The politics of Starfleet." Sienna said with a sigh. "It is a long story but one left in the past. I really like intelligence and i feel like as long as I am happy that is what matters."
"Being happy is important and it makes the job easier too." Aurora commented. "I'm content being a counselor,"
"And you are good at it." Sienna said honestly. "You have just the right empathy to make a person feel comfortable talking to you."
"Thank you," Aurora replied. "From what I've seen your good at Intelligence and your a damned fine doctor.".
"Thanks." Sienna said with a smile. "But I think you are a bit prejudiced."
"Who me?" Aurora asked with an innocent smile on her face. "Medicine was always your first love. They can take the doctor out of sick bay but cannot take the doctor out of you. Your a doctor first."
"It still is." Sienna said with a smile. "But life and goals change."
"That it does, looks like you did make a good change." Aurora replied. "So what else have you been up to?"
"This is the life." Sienna said with a smile. "Things have gotten better with my family now that they have accepted that this is what I want to do with my life."
"Family always wants what is best of us. But they do forget we have a right to make our own decisions and choices," Aurora commented.
"It's hard though." Sienna admitted. "I hate disappointing my parents." She loved her family they just didn't' see life the same way."
"I don't think you've disappointed them at all," Aurora assured her. "I'm sure they're proud of you, Your still a doctor, you just made a switch over to Intelligence. I'm certain that should Dr. Kennings be away or the captain gets us into something where sick bay is too busy you'll be needed."
Sienna grinned. "I could be the president of the Federation and they still would have wanted me to marry well and surround them with grandchildren."
Aurora couldn't help but giggle. "I think every parent wants us to marry well and pop out grandchildren. Are you seeing anyone?"
"Yes." Sienna said quietly. "But it's in the beginning stages. I'm not quite ready to share anything." She had good feelings about this guy but she preferred to keep it between them at the moment. It felt private to her.
"I understand and keeping it on the down low is good as you know how the rumor mill works." Aurora agreed. "I've been seeing someone as well. Again keeping it quite."
Sienna smiled. "We are both alike in a lot of ways." She was glad that Aurora hadn't pressured her for answers.
Aurora nodded, "That we are, we're both seeing someone and we both want to keep it quiet."
"It's just new." Sienna said with a smile. 'I want us to have that personal time together, where we don't have the ships gossip mill on us."
Aurora nodded. "I understand completely. It seems the rumor mill gets wind of things they don't let it go. Last thing we need is for that to get started."
"It's a part of being a family." Sienna said with a smile. "And that is what we all are here." She liked the crew and the command staff was excellent.
"And I feel like I belong here, I'm seeing someone, I love what I'm doing and the best part is your here too. The captain is wonderful," Aurora replied. "Everyone here is so nice."
Sienna smiled back at her friend. "I'm just glad we are serving together. We will have to get together soon when we are off duty."
"I agree, A girls night out when we can. Be it on the ship or on a star base. It sounds like fun," Aurora said smiling.
"Sounds like a plan." Sienna replied. "But for now, I have to head back to work." She stood up. "I will talk with you soon."
Aurora stood as well, " I should go too, I have a patient to see soon. I look forward to our girls night."
