Mission: Episode 1: Shadows of Diplomacy
Location: Kellan Farm in Billings, Montana
Timeline: 09/29/2404 @ 1100 hrs

Location: Earth, Kellan Farm in Billings, Montana

Retired Starfleet Captain Adrain Kellan was horseback riding with Paislee along the rugged back country of Montana, when a shuttle flew overhead and startled them along with their horse. The shuttle landed a short distance away from them.

Adrian had a sneaky suspicion that Starfleet was calling him back to service. He told them several times already that he was retired. After the tragedy with the Battle of Frontiers Day with the Borg and watching his first officer die in his arms, at the hands of his assimilated crew was the straw that broke his emotional back. He was not sure he had anything to offer Starfleet. Or today’s generation of officers.

He also wondered how much war he needed to see or be a part of? In his eyes he had already seen to much, and the painful memories were too much to bear. As a child he grew up during the Dominion War, The Second Borg Attack of the Sol System, The Synth Attack of 2385, and now recently with the Borg attack at the Battle of Frontiers Day, once again in the Sol System. Adrian was finally starting to come to terms with the loss, but he was not sure if he was ready to get back on the saddle of command. He had been meeting with Lieutenant Junior Grade Aurora Winters, she was a counselor at Starfleet Command. Adrian was retired, but Starfleet had insisted that he receive counseling sessions as part of his recovery, and Aurora was the one assigned to him.

All these tragedies left him a shell of the man he was, so he decided to leave Starfleet to find himself, and now that he felt that he was finding himself, they now come back wanting him to return to service. Adrian looked over to Paislee wondering what she was thinking, then he looked over to the shuttle wondering who was in the shuttle.

“Are we going on a trip, Daddy!” Paislee said with excitement. She liked vacations her dad and mom knew how to have fun.

“Not that I'm aware of. I'm not sure why the shuttle's here pumpkin.” Adrian said a little defensive as he placed his horse right in front of hers. He wasn't exactly sure what was going on here, but he made it very clear to Starfleet that he was not interested in rejoining there ranks anytime soon.

“It is a surprise!” Paislee grinned. “I love surprises.” Especially if it included cake and ice cream. She doubted this one did.
