Second Seat Not Fun

"I see that licking your eyes, I'm not pouting I just don't like being so I can see it on a mission." Adrian suggested to his lovely wife, as he sat on the sofa of their quarters. He knew Captain Anderson was in charge of the mission, and he was their to support her. I did not dawn on him at the time, his wife knew the fact that he actually took interest in a Starfleet mission. Just a few weeks ago he would have said that this would have been too much for him. She knew that he still wanted to leave Starfleet and go back to his retirement.

"I understand where you are coming from." Eliana said empathetically. "There will be times. However where you will have to take a back seat. It comes with the territory. That doesn't mean it is easy however "

"Are you my therapist or my wife?" Adrian asked teasingly, he appreciated her comment and she was correct. But at the moment he was also a little playful. He didn't want her thinking that he was bringing home his stress, he just wanted to tell her how he's feeling. But he didn't want to take it out on her.

Eliana laughed softly. "I don't think I would do well in that capacity." Her eyes lit up. "I am willing to commiserate with a dessert for two."

"Chocolate almond ice cream!" Paislee interrupted their conversation.

"Paislee, you have some interesting choices that's good on a candy bar but I don't know if it's good in ice cream?" Adrian pointed out a little skeptical of her delicacy choices.

"Weeeeellll," Paislee drew out her word slowly and grinned. "What about a strawberry cheesecake. Mommy makes the best and then you can smile again, Daddy!"

"Can we have that little strawberry glaze on it too. I could really use a good strawberry cheesecake with a little bit of light strawberry glaze on it." Adrian said, for his own selfish reasons and to support his daughter. When his daughter mentioned the cheesecake, made his mouth salivate for his wife's delicious cheesecake.

Eliana laughed softly. "I am certain I can arrange that." She knew that Adrian was still not liking having to be put on the back burner for this mission. She was certain his crew was not either but there would always be times when they had to accept some decisions, like it or not. "You are two of a kind."

"Thanks Mamma, we think you're special too." Adrian said, knowing that she was teasing him so he decided to pay her back a little bit. He had a big loving grin on his face, he could see that she was trying to ease his ego cuz of the fact that he was second seeing on this mission. He really appreciated her gesture.

Eliana smiled widely. "I think I need to get busy on that cheesecake in a few minutes." She looked from Paislee to Adrian. "Any preferences for dinner?"

"Mac and cheese!" Paislee said with a grin. "And french fries with lots of ketchup." She grinned at her Daddy. Pasilee was just teasing him, she knew that it was not his favorite.

"You forgot the protein, what about dino nuggets?" Adrian asked, as he looked over to his loving wife with a smirk, knowing that dino nuggets were not that nutritional. He knew his wife who was a world class reknowned chef, would not be caught dead making dino nuggets.

"Yes!" Paislee clapped her hands. "They are so good and its been too long."

Eliana thought quickly. "What about personal pizzas. We can each pick our own toppings." She was hoping Paislee would go for it. Her eyes went to Adrian. He had better speak up.

"As long as they're pineapple on those pizzas, you can count me In." Adrian suggested with the big warm smile on his face. The idea of a nice pizza with delicious pineapple on it, was making his mouth already savor.

"Yes." Eliana said with a smile. "You can have all the pineapple you want."

"Gummy bears and peanut butter." Paislee said with a giggle. She looked at her dad and shook her head. "Just kidding! I want sausage, bacon and pineapple."

"I don't know I think gummy bears and peanut butter sounds great for dinner tonight." Adrian said with the teasing grin on his face, as he looked over to you Eliana, hoping she would be the voice of reason and not make him that monstrosity that he just teased about.

"We will be ha ing pizza." Eliana said as she looked from Adrian to Paislee. There will be ham, pepperoni, bacon and pineapple for choices." She waited for their replies.

"Pineapple and bacon." Paislee said, deciding it was better to agree. "Can i have pasta sauce to dip it in?"

"Maybe some pepperoni and sausage too, ohh that sounds good." Adrian said, hoping Paislee and Eliana would want those two ingredients.

"That does sound good." Eliana said with a smile. She wasn't picky when it came to toppings.

Paislee thought for a moment and then nodded. "And maybe some extra cheese please."

"You both know how to distract a man I like it. This is what I needed a good day with my family." Adrian pointed out to the two of them.

"Us too!" Paislee said, bobbing her head up and down. "You been promising me to play checkers. I am gonna beat you this time."

Eliana smiled as she watched them. "I don't know your father is like the checkers king."

"I will!" Paislee said with determination. "Just wait and see!"

"I promise to take it easy on both of you." Adrian said as he pulled out the checkers board and started to set it up.

"Take it easy." Eliana laughed softly. "Don't try and fool us, you play to win."

Paislee sat down across from her Daddy. "I am gonna too!" She loved these times with her Daddy. He was smiling and didn't look so sad anymore. She just wanted to keep it that way.

"You know me to well." Adrian said, as he looked to both ladies as the scene fades away.

Paislee made the first move, for once she was serious. She was playing to win.
