Mission: Episode 1: Shadows of Diplomacy
Location: Cargo Bay 1

The Ceremony...

Adrian looked around the room, he wasn't nervous, more annoyed than anything. This wasn't his idea, to assume command of another Starship. But unfortunately it wasn't up to him. Starfleet felt that he was the best candidate for the mission at hand.

Adrian knew that he needed to maintain some level of professionalism and since he was stuck in this he might as well make the most of it and not take it out on the crew. So with the calm and steady voice he then spoke out, as he read from a data pad. “To Captain Adrian Miles Kellan, You are hereby requested and required to take command of the USS Scharnhorst as of this date. Signed Rear Admiral Dazad, Starfleet Command.”

"Computer accept command authorization code from Captain Adrian Kellen to assume command of USS Scharnhorst as of this stardate." Adrian called out as he waited for the computer to chirp.

"Command authorization needed for transfer protocols." The computer simply replied back in a cold sterile tone.

"Authorization code pie alpha indigo Sierra Lima echo echo niner seven zero six four, and enable." Adrian called out waiting for the computer to accept his command code.

"Command codes authorized, USS Scharnhorst is now under the command of Captain Adrian Miles Kellan." The ship's computer called out.

Eliana stood with Paislee beside her. She knew Adrian was a bit conflicted but also that this was what he needed. She looked at their daughter who was watching her Daddy with a serious look on her face.

“He is doing it.” Paislee whispered. She hadn’t known what to expect. “Are they gonna break a bottle or something.” She wondered out loud.

Rayven listened as the captain assumed command of the ship.

"Mommy who is that man?" Mindy asked pointing to Adrian as she held her dog's leash. "I hope he likes dogs."

"He's the captain of the ship," Rayven said "I'm sure he likes dogs."

A pair of green eyes staring from the shadows in the back wasn't as thrilled with dogs, but stayed silent.

Adrian looked over to Paislee. "Hopefully that was not to boring for you?" He asked with a big playful smile. Then he walked over to put his arm around his lovely wife. He knew this moment would not last long, the senior staff would be stopping by and wanting to meet their captain.

Mindy let go of Rayven's hand and before her mother could stop her Mindy walked over to the captain and looked up at him. "You look nice," Seeing Paislee "Are you going on the ship too?"

Paislee smiled. “I am! The boss is my Daddy so I’m like his junior officer.” Her eyes were shining with pride. “Mama says he is damn good at his job.”

“Paislee!” Eliana groaned. “Remember our rule about naughty words.”

Rayven walked over and took Mindy's had "I'm sorry about this. She knows better than to run off on me."

"Don't be sorry, children are natural explorers and they always speak from their heart. Don't be sorry or apologize for a child." Adrian suggested as he smiled to Mindy and at Rayven. "You must be my new Chief science officer, Lieutenant Rayven Mist."

"I am sir," Rayven said "I look forward to serving with you."

"This is my dog, Wizzer," Mindy said "He's nice."

"Is he friendly?" Adrian asked, before trying to pet the dog. He knew better than to simply just pet a random dog. The dog appeared friendly enough.

"He's really friendly," Mindy said "See," she said hugging the Beagle.

"Glad to hear it, I assume you will be responsible for Mister Wizzer?" Adrian asked, wanting to see how serious she took on the role as dog caregiver.

Mindy nodded and smiled up at the captain, "I will be I promise and he won't be no trouble. I took care of him at home too, Mommy said he's my responsibility."

"I have no doubt you will, it was a pleasure to meet you Mindy and a pleasure to meet Mister Wizzer too." Adrian said, as she waited Robert approaching his direction.

Robert snorted slightly as the crew stood at attention. Kids are awesome, he thought.

Location: USS Scharnhorst, Bridge

Zaire walked onto the bridge without his lovely wife. He was relieved to get away from Kalina’s Grandmother. She was a force to be reckoned with. “Our new life begins today.”

The doors to the bridge hissed open, admitting Thoande, the Aenar security chief, who smiled to herelf as she took in the scene around her. So this was to be her home for the next few years. She could sense it in the air already: the excitement and the spirit the others brought ot the table.

Zaire looked at his padd and sighed. He looked around, as the new officer. “We are at the wrong place we need to head to the cargo bay.” He headed to the turbolift.

"I know. Just taking it in for the first time." Thoande replied, smiling, as she followed him into the turbolift as well.

Location: USS Scharnhorst, Cargo Bay 1

Meanwhile back in the cargo bay area, Adrian was starting to meet with some of the senior officers. He had a big smile on his face as Eliana and Paislee were by his side. "Mrs Solwick, I am very pleased you could make an appearance today for my inauguration to the captaincy of the Scharnhorst." Adrian called out to Ambassador Krisna Solwick.

"I'm sorry you got called back into service captain, let's start late needs every capable captain. And I hope you don't mind but I personally vouch for you because I feel you are the best option to help rebuild the trust with the Romulan people. I understand that you're hurting, but I also know your character and your values and I know you're the right person for this job." Krisna simply said to Adrian.

"I appreciate the apology, and I appreciate the faith that you having me Ambassador but I would be omitting if I did not say I was nervous about my assignment. It's been 3 years but it seems like it's just been yesterday. I don't know if I have what it takes." Adrian said is he looked over to the Ambassador.

"Sometimes in life when you're hurting that's the best time to get back up on the saddle and try again I believe that's what the human phrase is for getting back on your horse. I know your love of horses so I thought it would be soothing analogy." Krisna pointed out to him with a soft tone she wasn't being her usual over aggressive type of personality.

"You really believe I can make a difference?" Adrian asked her, knowing that Krisna Solwick had a unique gift of seeing something in people even when they didn't see them in in themselves."

"I do captain and I know I'm not alone." Krisna said that she looked over to Ileana and then place her hand gently on Paislee's head. Your family also knows it's true, which is why I'm trusting you with my family. Kalina his hard-working and she's loyal to a fault, and her husband despite his slight annoyances is also loyal to a fault but just be careful with him Captain he's new and he's just starting to understand different cultures have different way of doing things so he might need a mentor."

"Of course ambassador, I will take care of both of them." Adrian simply said as another person approached their direction. Clearly others wanted to congratulate him or at least talk to him and he was still excited to meet most of the senior staff.

As the Captain walked over, Robert held out a hand. "Sir," he said. "Robert Brant, Chief Flight Control Officer. I look forward to never steering you wrong," he said, grinning.

"Glad to hear that Lieutenant." Adrian said, as he reached out to shake his hand. He gave a quick look over to Robert, and thought the man was dressed well, and took care of himself.

Darla shook head, smiling, her rainbow-colored hair shimmering in the light. "Doctor Darla Kennings, Sir," she said, standing at Robert's side. "Looking forward to seeing Sickbay." Her violet eyes lit up under rainbow brows with excitement.

"Pleasure to meet you Doctor, just let me know if you have any issues with anyone refusing their physicals." Adrian suggested to her as he reached out to shake her hand as well.

"Aye, Sir, I won't hesitate," Darla said, shaking his hand.

At around that time, Thoande walked through the door with Zaire; she too approached the Captain with a smile on her face. "Thoande zh'Vethryn, security chief. It is an honor to meet you, sir." She said, softly, waiting behind Robert for her turn. "I look forward to safeguarding you and your crew in all that we do."

"Likewise Lieutenant." Adrian said, as he reached out to shake her hand. He felt like a yoyo, getting greeted by everyone in the senior staff. If he liked it or not, today was day to be a yoyo.

"Captain, I am very pleased to serving on the Scharnhorst. I am Lieutenant Commander Kara Sorenson your new Commander Air Group." She called out, as she reached out to shake his hand.

"Valkyrie, its agreeable to see you." Adrian said, as he looked over to Kara. He noticed that Paislee seemed confused. "Honey, her call sign is Valkyrie, its customary to call a pilot by their call sign."

“Oh!” Paislee nodded. It still seemed weird to have two names. She was happy she only had one to answer to. “Which does your Mama call you?”

"I have a feeling something similar to what your mom calls you, most the time she calls me honey or sweetie or if I'm in trouble she calls me by my full name." Kara suggested with the big warm smile on her face.

“The second I hear my middle name I know I’m grounded.” Paislee nodded. “Like when I let the neighbors pigs out.” Her eyes met Kara’s. “It wasn’t my fault they were crying to be free!”

"I see, and did you help gather them up when the farmer came out I assume to reclaim his pigs?" Kara asked with a look of curiosity interface and a slight smile.

“Well I tried but Daddy said I made things worse.” She giggled then. “It was kind of funny watching them try and catch them.”

"That must been a fun adventure." Kara said, wishing she could have seen it for herself. She gave Paislee a big smile. "I can tell you are full of adventure."

“I try to make things fun.” Paislee said mischievously. “Otherwise life is boring.”

Tag Paislee

“Lieutenant Byrne-Solwick reporting.” Zaire said as he approached the captain. He was looking forward to serving here.

"Nice to meet my new chief engineer, I am trusting you with the heart of the ship." Adrian suggested to him, with a big warm smile on his face.

“You can count on me, Captain.” Zaire loves being an engineer. He felt alive when he was working.

"Glad to hear it my daughter suggested well I think it was a joint project that maybe we should have a pinball room somewhere where the crew can unwind maybe a gaming room. What do you think Mister Solwick?"

Zaire grinned. “I think that is a great idea. I will definitely see what I can come up with, Captain.”

"I know my daughter would appreciate it, but don't let that project get in the way of your primary duties. As soon as our new chief operations officer reports on duty I will have them assist you." Adrian suggested as he looked over to Paisley and then back at Zaire.

“Of course, Captain.” Zaire replied. He saw the expectant look on the captains daughter’s face and held back a grin. She was a cute kid but there was a sense of determination in her eyes.

"Congratulations on your marriage, before you know it you will have kids as well Mister Solwick." Adrian suggested to Zaire.

Zaire grinned at his words. “That will be a blessing.”

Krisna just gave him a disapproving smile on her face. She was not fond of him yet, but if he learned his place and how to play the political game and not be a instigator he could be a good soon.

"Agreed, kids are a true blessing so happy to have my two children my oldest is joining the academy." Adrian suggested to Zaire.

Colton had come into behind the others and stood to the side, waiting his turn. He was watching the others, wanting to observe those he would serve with.

"Hello Commander Rogers, glad you make it." Adrian said, as he looked over to Colton.

“It is good to meet you, Captain.” Colton said with a smile. “I am glad to be here, Sir.”

"And tell our first officer comes aboard I'm going to need you to step up and be our acting first officer. I assume you're okay with that?" Adrian ass knowing that was a lot to put on a newly minted Second Officer but he needed to show stability in the command structure.

Aurora had been watching the captain. Walking over to where he stood once some of the other officers had finished speaking to him. "Hello captain."

“Yes Sir.” Colton replied to the captains question. “Whatever you need.”

"I think a game room and a pinball machine would be good," Aurora said "I know the children would love it," Aurora said looking to Paislee and Mindy.

“Yes!!!” Paislee clapped her hands.

"Please!!" Mindy spoke up "It's gonna be fun," she looked at Paislee "Think we can be friends? My mommy works a lot."
